Gerry Brown – In the world of contemporary Jazz Fusion music, there are a plethora of great names that can be thrown out there whose outstanding musicianship and contribution to the advancement of the genre are both unique and lasting. But to be a purist one has to go back to where the birth of Contemporary Jazz has its greatest impact, and those whose inspirational impact propelled the art form into the mainstream. One of the greatest drummers of that time is Gerry Brown. But Gerry didn’t just leave his mark on the world of Jazz… Whether it was drumming on the evolutionary Stanley Clarke album “School Days” or Chic Corea’s Return To Forever, Marvin Gaye or Stevie Wonder, Lionel Ritchie or Diana Ross, Gerry Brown has been a steady force in the world of drumming for over 40 years.
